An Interview With Anna Dack - @annas.little.home

A L T E R M E H O M E A N E C D O T E S

an interview with you ;

This weeks interview is with Anna Dack (@annas.little.home)

After relocating from the south coast, Anna now rents an 1800’s listed town house in Buckinghamshire with her two very photogenetic cats Albert & Olive.

Anna’s relocation from life down south came following a job opportunity & promotion, her coastal property was her first home that she owned; and carries huge sentiment & memories, it was a home which inaugurated her love for interiors. Not to let this go, Anna decided to rent out her seaside property and in turn, rent a home in Buckinghamshire to test the waters before committing to buy. Anna tells us that her landlord has been wonderful & supportive; allowing her to put her own stamp on the property - as well as permit her pets to live there too!

“I think there are so many wonderful things that can make a home a home to someone, but for me, it’s those little timeless moments and memories that you create in a space that’s truly yours. Whether that’s conquering your first DIY project, or sitting and laughing for hours on end with your nearest and dearest. It’s those memories, no matter how big or small that make my home “home”. I’ll never forget the moment I completed my first panelling project. It was in our first lock down, It was just me and the cats so I did everything completely on my own, and I remember opening a bottle of champagne, pouring a glass, and just sitting there thinking “I did that”. I’ll never forget that sheer sense of pride and happiness (or the sheer look of shock on my parents faces when I Face Timed them to show them what I’d done as they couldn’t quite believe I’d been able to do that!)” - Anna

Where do you find your inspiration?

Oh goodness it absolutely has to be the wonderful community we have in the world of home and interior instagram. There are too many accounts to list here, but within the community we have, and amongst the friends I have made through this, there are so many beautiful people, homes & small businesses that I take inspiration from daily. I also absolutely love a visit to a countryside village where you just know they’ll be hidden gems such as farm shops, florists, interior stores and beautiful buildings to take inspiration from. It took me a long time to find my feet with my interior aesthetic (For context, my first home went through 4 redecorations before I got to where I am now with my style, although I partly blame living alone in all those lock downs and wanting to keep busy!) but after lots of “faffing” as we all like to call it, I love the home and style I’ve managed to create.

Your favourite home purchase?

Am I allowed to say Albert & Olive for this! They do love to regularly be featured in my styling and always seem to know when I’ve got my camera out! Bringing these two home from the rescue Center was another one of those moments that really made the house feel like home and there isn’t a day I don’t adore coming home to their little furry faces, even with Alberts selective temperament! On a serious note, I utterly adore fresh flowers, and my dream one day would be to own my own florist so I think one of my vases would have to be one of my favourite pieces. I have a gorgeous ceramic one from Neptune that has a small blue floral print all over it (I think you’ll see this just about everywhere on Instagram mind you, its known as “THE VASE”, and another terracotta stone one from With Love Abigail, and there’s nothing more I love than bringing home some fresh flowers to style in them. They’re both such timeless pieces and you’ll always see them snuck into a shot on amongst the images I take for my page.

Worst home decision / purchase?

Oh now this is a tough one, but I think I’d have to go with my jute rug. Not because I don’t like it, again it’s a classic but the cats treat it like one giant scratch mat so I am forever having to get down on the floor and thread the material back through to try and save it from these two rascals and the damage they do to it!

Where did you first hear about Alterme Home?

I found your beautiful business again through Instagram. I was looking for some printed cushions to style on a bench I had, and I saw some detailed on another accounts page to which after clicking on, led me to Alterme Home

Anna’s Favourite piece(s) from our collection;

Well, I am being slightly biased but it has to be my Lydia & Josie cushions. I adore the delicate green floral print on the neutral backgrounds and they are so versatile. I like to mix up the styling with them and they often go between the sofa, or a bench or a basket, and I’ve even had them tucked into my tv unit shelf before. They just compliment the spaces so perfectly and add such an elegant pop of detail.

Just for fun… we asked Anna if she was a cushion from our range which one would she be?

Well, I think I’d be the new Florence cushion! A little bit fluffy round the edges, definitely plump in the middle after a week off and lots of eating out and lots of cake, and a beautiful blue floral print that matches the dress I am wearing today!

It’s been so wonderful to interview Anna, her passion for her home & love for interiors is beautiful to hear, and we love what she has accomplished within her styling, her home projects & of course relocating her life! If you’d like to take a peak inside Anna’s home you can follow her journey here @annas.little.home

We love this light and airy living room, the subtle hints of green work so well on this neutral base to create a calming & inviting living space. Anna has added texture with a throw and woven basket as well as pattern with our Lydia & Josie cushions. (Shop the cushions here)

Anna’s home is full of wonderfully curated pieces, this blue patterned vase works beautifully as a contrast against her wood top console. The styling throughout is visually beautiful, but offers practicality as well as showing Anna’s personality, with memories in the form of photos & possessions carefully placed around her home; really bringing it to life!

The art of styling your home is not just to mimic a show home, or a perfect magazine image, its to take elements of décor that inspire you and weave in your own personality and pieces, this is what will make your house feel like home & Anna has achieved this brilliantly.
